Plone Event/Sprint Sponsorship Policy (old version)

The Plone Foundation has a limited budget for assisting with sprints and funding Plone community members to represent Plone at technology conferences and events.

All requests must be made through this form http://plone.org/foundation/event-sponsorship/event-sponsorship-request. Applying for funds from our event sponsorship fund

Please use this form to apply for support from our event sponsorship fund.  Note that you must be logged in to Plone.org to view the form.

Marketing events

In general, we will be looking to provide matching funds (e.g. half of booth/registration costs) to Plone community members with a solid history of community contributions.

For marketing events, we want to know:

  • name, location, dates
  • url of conference website
  • target audience
  • expected number of exhibitors
  • expected number of attendees
  • admission ticket price
  • information on booth rental cost and any other associated expenses for exhibitors
  • names of Plone community members planning on attending the event
  • reason why Plone should be represented

For more complete details on this process, visit this page.

Sprints

Our highest level of support will be for sprints that are planned or recommended by major Plone teams like the framework or documentation teams. Lower levels of support will be available for sprints that develop community and build the Plone development culture. And, we'll have schwag and pizza funding for other events.

When you apply for sprint funding, try to tell us how your sprint should be categorized, and what you want the Foundation to fund. We generally want to fund specific items like travel, and not just general budget.

The board will be happy to work with you to develop your request!

Reporting back

If you receive event sponsorship funds, we'll expect you to provide a brief report-back to the Plone community via this form, which will also serve as your official request for reimbursement from the Plone Foundation.  :-)
